For me, black and white photography has a timeless quality. Without color, everyday moments take on a different presence, allowing emotion, light, texture, and detail to come forward. When I photograph, I see the world in black and white, looking beyond color to notice the quiet details that might otherwise be overlooked—the way light falls across a building, shadows move through a space, textures reveal character, or a familiar scene takes on a different mood. Black and white allows me to slow down and see these everyday moments in a different way. As Ansel Adams said, “Black and white photography is truly quite a ‘departure from reality,’” and for me, that departure is where the magic begins.
